This interactive 3D learning simulation teaches basic automotive maintenance and repair techniques. Knowing how to change a tire and make a regular oil change is very important to keep your car in good shape. This web-based application demonstrates using a real-time 3D simulation to provide instructional learning. ![]() Select a maintenance task from the pulldown menu. As you go through the steps of the simulation, you can rotate, pan, or zoom your view to see the actions being taken. In some cases, you may want to replay certain steps from a different viewpoint. ![]() Move the jack into place under the car. Be sure to place the jack far enough underneath the car that it will raise the car by a solid part of the frame, not just by an exterior car panel. If everything looks okay, slowly turn the jack handle and raise the rear tire off the ground so it can be removed. ![]() Park on level ground and turn off the engine. Locate and remove the engine oil cap from the engine block. The oil cap will often be close to the oil dipstick. If you're unsure, consult your owner's manual to locate the oil cap. ![]() Place a funnel into the hole where the engine oil cap was. Pour in as many quarts of oil as necessary. You'll know how many quarts to use by the reading you got from the dipstick in the previous maintenance task of the simulation. |
